Exmoor National Park’s CareMoor for Exmoor Winter Appeal to raise funds for dormouse boxes and monitoring has been a great success with more than £1,000 over the original target of £3,000 being raised.
Lynmouth Christmas Fayre
Everyone was in the Christmas spirit yesterday with the host of delights that awaited them created by the National Park Centre team at the Lynmouth Pavilion. As well as putting on a raffle with the proceeds going to CareMoor’s Dormice Appeal, they even made it snow especially for the Mayor!
Help CareMoor give a dormouse a home
Dormouse numbers on Exmoor and in many other parts of the country are in decline, so to help reverse this, CareMoor is launching its Winter Appeal to raise funds for 150 dormouse boxes at three woodland sites in Exmoor National Park. Continue reading
Porlock Hill Climb supports CareMoor
Yesterday (Sunday 25th September) the annual community event that provides the chance for the more adventurous cyclist to tackle one of the most famous hill climbs in England. And all the participants of the Porlock Hill Climb very generously donate part of their entry fee to CareMoor.
Access in action: new bridleway through Worth Wood
Exmoor hosts over 800 miles of local paths of various kinds and donations to CareMoor are a vital means of funding the maintenance and repairs that are needed – repairing and regarding a bridleway can cost £10 per metre. A recent example is the repairs needed for part of the River Barle’s bank at Worth Wood, which were made impassable after flooding caused a landslip.
Long Chains Combe Success
We launched our appeal for the repair of Long Chains Combe as part of the national Mend our Mountains campaign back in March – and thanks to a top-up donation by CareMoor, we achieved our fundraising goal!
